Captain Cook, who was born nearby, had his famous ship Endeavour built in Whitby and here too is the best place in the world to find jet, the gleaming black gemstone loved by the Victorians. This amazing seaside town is also featured in Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula novel which in turn has inspired the famous bi-annual Goth Festival. This is a great day out at an amazing price
